Metropolitan Community Church of Detroit
2441 Pinecrest Dr., Ferndale, MI (Map)

The bears will be again having an Annual Rummage Sale outside the MCC Church in Ferndale with the proceeds going towards the World AIDS Day Reception to be held in early December. Donations are currently being solicited and will be cheerfully accepted.

Also, if you’ve got some stuff you’d just like turn into cold, hard, cash the Motor City Bears will also be renting tables for $25.00 during the Rummage Sale, so you can make a few bucks while supporting the MCB.

For more information, contact Dennis G. at (248) 335-4408 or email him at president@motorcitybears.com

Jul 9th
Dinner Night Blue Nile 6:00pm
545 W. 9 Mile Rd., Ferndale, MI (Map)
Cost: Approx. $15 to $25 per person

Since you’ll already be in the area for the end of the Rummage Sale, you’ll want to come on over to the Blue Nile for a dining experience which has been called interesting and exotic by local food critics and bears alike.

The Blue Nile features Ethiopian dishes of meat and vegetables served with injera, a spongy bread. Some of our members have raved about dining experience, so we’re coming out to see what all of the excitement is all about.

Afterwards, the stroll over to Just 4 Us for the meeting will be just the ticket to continue enjoying the evening with goods friends.

Jul 9th General Monthly Meeting 8:00pm
Just 4 Us Bookstore
211 W. 9 Mile, Ferndale, MI (Map)

Our general meetings are discussions of past and upcoming activities mixed with club business and socializing. If you want to know if we're the club for you, come check us out. Guests and visitors are always welcome.

Just 4 Us is located on 9 Mile Road, just west of Woodward Ave. Parking is available on 9 Mile and 1 block south.

26th Annual Metra Picnic 10:00am - 8:00pm
62000 Gratiot, Lenox, MI (Map)
$15.00 in advance
$20.00 at the door

For several years running, the Motor City Bears have had a presence at this summertime event and this year is no exception! In addition to non-stop dance music, there are drag shows, vendors, games, a parade, nature walks, and lots of “family” fun. Come on out and show everyone how the bears kick back and have fun.

The bears will be providing the burgers, dogs, buns and condiments, and we encourage everyone to bring their favorite beverage as well as a dish to pass based on the first letter of your last name. Your cooperation will help assure that we don’t have too many of one item and not enough of another.

A-F: Picnic side dish
G-M: Salads, cheese, deviled eggs, dip trays etc.
N-R: Desserts
S-Z: Snacks, finger foods etc.

Annual Canoe Trip 12:00pm - 6:00pm
Delhi Metro Park, Skip's Canoe Livery
3780 Delhi Court, Ann Arbor, MI 48103 (Map)
Park entrance fee (parking): $4.00
Canoeing fee: $20.00 per person or $40 per canoe

Join us for our 5th Annual Canoe Trip down the Huron River. This event has become a summertime favorite. Spending about four hours lazily floating down a river can’t be all bad. Leave the hustle and bustle behind and enjoy Summer at its peak. For the most part, this part of the Huron River is deep enough to keep everyone floating, but shallow enough to please the land lubbers and non-swimmers as well. If you get tired of floating or paddling, there are several places where you can stop and enjoy the scenery before you continue on down the river. As in the past, we will be canoeing in the fiberglass canoes, which are better suited for bigger, bearish bodies.

Space is limited for this event and we must make reservations and prepay for a certain number of canoes. Because of this, participants must pre-register and prepay no later than the MCB meeting at Just 4 Us on July 9th.

PAYMENT OPTIONS:
By Mail: Mail your check, payable to “Motor City Bears” to Motor City Bears, P.O. Box 1894, Royal Oak, MI 48068
In Person: Payment may be made in person to our treasurer at any meeting.
Electronically: We also accept PayPal. Just go to www.paypal.com and send your money to our treasurer via his treasurer@motorcitybears.com email address. By using PayPal you can pay instantly with your credit card, bank account or PayPal balance and get your receipt online.

After the trip is over, everyone is encouraged and invited to attend a barbeque at the nearby home of one of our members, Steve C., which will be held immediately after the canoe trip. (See below)

Jul 23rd
Backyard Barbeque 6:00pm - ???

The bears will be providing the burgers, dogs, buns and condiments, and we encourage everyone to bring their favorite beverage as well as a dish to pass based on the first letter of your last name. Your cooperation will help assure that we don’t have too many of one item and not enough of another.
