Pre-Halloween Bar Night 9:00pm - 2:00am
R & R Saloon
7330
Michigan Avenue, Detroit, MI (Map)
(313) 849-2751
Cover Charge: $3.00
After a
long absence, the R & R Saloon welcomes the Motor City Bears for a night of
festivities which will have people talking for days… maybe weeks!
First
off, the theme tonight is “Beary Scary!”
We’re encouraging everyone to wear their Scariest,
Beariest costume! Since it’s the week before Halloween
weekend, this is the perfect time to try out your Halloween costume for the
year OR dig an old one outta the closet for another go ‘round!
Although
everyone knows what bears normally look like, what do bears look like when they
dress their scariest for the evening? Ohhhhhh, it could be
really SCARY!!! Will
there be fashion do’s, don’ts
and never’s among the crowd? Who can
say for sure, you’ll simply have to come out and see for yourself!
Be sure
to look for the Halloween colored Jell-o shots, too. They may look harmless, but
that’s just a disguise. Give some to your favorite bear and you’ll be
sure to have a nice trophy to take home.
Also, if
you’re feeling lucky (or hope to get lucky in one way or another), then
be sure to get your winning tickets during the 50/50 raffle AND be ready to
claim your door prize with your winning ticket.
Secure parking
is available nearby in the Oram’s Market parking lot at the corner of Tarnow and Michigan Avenue.
The
proceeds from tonight’s event will go towards the World AIDS Day
reception on December 1st.

“Reel Pride Michigan Film Festival”
Main Art Theatre
118 North Main Street, Royal Oak, MI 48067 (Map)
Admission: $9.00
Two film festivals in ONE year??? That's right!!!
Reel Pride has moved their winter film festival
forward to the fall, so this year we get a double
dose of queer cinema. Tonight's bear/leather shorts
include the following: A Bear's Story Director: Vincent Mtzlplck, US, 2004, Video, 20
min.
Obituary writer Robert is a heavyset gay man who is
perfectly happy with his single, solitary life…or so
he thinks. That night at a West Hollywood gay bar,
he meets John who invites him to a party at his
house. As he steps into the gathering Robert finds a
gay community all his own - heavy, hairy gay guys
and their admirers. Just for Leather Director: Lawrence Ferrara, US, 2004, video, 5
min.
When two men meet in a leather bar, the pick up
doesn't turn out quite as one would expect. The Hairy Underbelly of Portugal Director: John Scagliotti, US, 2005, 14 min.
A hairy look at bears, boots and chubs in a city in
Portugal. Pup Director: Antonia Kao, US, 2005, video, 23 min.
Christian leather men compete in the International
Puppy Contest for human canines and their handlers. The Big Game Director: John Scagliotti, US, Video, 5 min.
Three big bears take on the local jocks with a twist
that would make Wilt Chamberlain roll in his grave.
Starring Dan Dowling, Rob Sherman and Mikhael Yowe. Casey's Dad Director: Daddy Todd, 2005, US, Video, 8 min.
Casey’s Dad is a parody homophile variation of the
alternative rock hit "Stacy’s Mom" by Fountains of
Wayne.
We’re encouraging all of our members to
meet outside the theatre around 6:30pm wearing
their best Motor City Bears emblazoned attire, so we
can make an entrance as a group, assuring a visible
bear presence to other movie patrons and making a
supportive statement about positive, bear friendly
cinema.

Annual Halloween Party 8:00pm to ???
at Brian P.
Sterling Heights, MI
Halloween has become the second biggest holiday
of the year... but then you knew that already, right? The MCB Halloween
Party has long been a staple of the MCB’s annual calendar and it’s easy
to see why. Every year, many of the bears outdo themselves with
magnificent and original costume ideas to showcase their best assets,
with sometimes stunning and/or hilarious results!
Cash prizes will be awarded for the best three costumes. $50.00 goes to
the 1st Place winner, $30 to the 2nd Place Winner and $20 for 3rd Place.
Use your creativity, or do a little shopping and be your scariest!
Like last year, we encourage everyone to bring their favorite
beverage as well as a buffet dish based on the first letter of your last
name. Your cooperation will help assure that we don’t have too many of
one item and not enough of another.
A-F: Snacks, finger foods etc. G-M: Side dish N-R: Salads, cheese trays, dip trays etc. S-Z: Desserts
The secret to the MCB Halloween Party is a simple recipe: Take 75 (or
more) bears in costume. Add food and drink, mix well, then just issue a
stern warning to all party goers. Don't Go In The Basement!!!
Terrible noises keep coming from down there and you may NOT come out
alive!!! Naturally, like any good horror flick, they can’t stay
out of there and by morning, the end result is usually a night to
remember... if you dare!
Check either of the Motor City Bear’s
Yahoo! groups for directions to Brian & Kevin’s. Their address and
last minute information about this event will be posted there.
