Dec 15th MCB Holiday Dinner 5 pm - ?? pm
Come out and join us for a great holiday pot luck dinner at Rick & Michael's beautiful home in the Boston/Edison area of Detroit.  Rumor has it that MCB might have a few special things planned as well for its members.  You will have to come on out to find out more.   Here is the info from Michael.

What better thing to do than to have a Christmas Den Party. Rick and I would like to invite everyone to come out for a great time and lots of great food. There have been some changes since the September party and the kitchen and living have now been painted and finished. I love the Christmas season so bake a lot, and I mean a lot.

We will open the house around 5pm and will have a potluck buffet. Please bring a dish to past from the list below based on the first letter of your last name.

A-F: Finger foods, side dishes, Soups etc.

G-M: Desserts

N-R: Meat dishes, casseroles, main dishes etc.

S-Z: Salads, cheese, deviled eggs, dip trays etc.

Soda and Water will be provided and if you have a specific drink you like please feel free to BYOB.

There will be opportunities for Carols, and some of them will be truly gay.  We will also be doing the secret Santa gift exchange.  This is a lot of fun as we draw tickets for the order to choose a gift.  You can pick a wrapped gift or choose to take someone else’s gift.  But you can lose your gift to the next person in line.   Everyone gets a gift but it might not be the one you started with.  Please bring a gift around $10.00 to participate in the fun.   The gift thing is totally optional, either way just come on out and hang out with the bears.

Remember, no smoking in the house and we do have 3 cats.  Lets see if we can get as large if not bigger turnout than we got in September.  Looking forward to seeing everyone.

2008 Whole Year Event Planning Meeting / Pizza Party – 6 PM

This year let’s try something different and host a planning party to set up most of the events for 2008.  Lambda car club has done it this way and it has worked our well for them.

So let’s plan on a meeting to pencil in the major events for 2008 at Scott and Rob’s house.  We will not totally fill up the calendar, we can leave some areas open for adding additional events during the year as well.   Plan on it taking 2 to 3 hours to do the whole year.  I think this will be fun.  It will also allow for everyone to plan better for our events by knowing way in advance what they are doing.

We will also have pizza and pop and will be asking for donations to help pay for this.  Please BYOB if you want something stronger.  What something on your pizza?  Let us know, we will try to get what you want.  No promise but I will try.  We will get an attendee list going as we get closer to the date so we know how many pizzas to order.

Remember we have 2 long hair cats, smoking outside only and 21 and older please.

Please bring your event ideas or send them to me (treasurer@motorcitybears.com) if you can't make the meeting.  Remember that this is your club so come on out and help us make 2008 a great year for MCB.

Please see the Members Only Yahoo group for Address and Directions or contact Scott at treasurer@motorcitybears.com

Dec 31st New Years Trailer Trash Party 6:00 PM - ?? AM

2007 will be over before we know it and it is time to celebrate the coming of a new year. Rob and I are hosting a New Years Eve party at our home in Novi.

This year we are going to do pot luck with a twist.  We are going to try something different for this MCB party. Instead of doing our normal pot luck, we thought we would do a themed pot luck party and the theme will be (Drum roll please)  "Trailer Trash Food "

Yes we live in a trailer so I guess we can have some fun with this.  Think of your basic fun comfort food you liked when you were a kid (and maybe you still do)  Hostess cake, package mac and cheese, bologna sandwich on Wonder bread.  Here are a few ideas I found on the web.  I am sure there are many more ideas out there.   If this is not your style then please bring what ever you would like to bring.  It is totally optional but come on I bet you liked tater tots too!  ;>)

* Frito Pie: This is the ultimate! Buy some snack-sized bags of Fritos. Place one bag on a plate and cut a slit in it vertically. Next, put a good-sized dollop of chili on top of the Fritos. Then top that with cheese and sour cream. Serve it up and you’ve got a handy, self-contained meal!

* Think “freezer aisle!” Take a trip down the freezer aisle at the super market and look for some tasty gems, such as potato puffs and fish fingers. These are always a must. Lots of ketchup too.

* Casseroles are definitely the way to go. Any cookbook from the ‘70s and before will offer a fantastic selection of casseroles, including of course the infamous “jellied” salads. While these salads will probably go uneaten, anything with suspended marshmallows is always a good laugh. Don’t forget, of course, the macaroni and cheese with the sliced hot dogs on top!

* Dessert is perhaps the most fun. Check out the “kids” section of the supermarket for the good packaged desserts such as cupcakes and cookie sandwiches. Again, the more generic, the better.

So I think this could be a lot of fun.  Let’s get this trailer rockin’ like it’s 1975!   Here is the list of food categories

A-F: Desserts

G-M: Finger foods, side dishes, Soups etc.

N-R: Salads, cheese, deviled eggs, dip trays etc.

S-Z: Meat dishes, casseroles, main dishes etc.

This invite is open to all MCB members and their guests. Not a member, come on out and sign up. Membership is only $20 and you can sign up right at the party.

** Club event - Non-members are asked to donate $5.00 to the club to help pay for costs.**

DRINKS We will have pop and ice. Feel free to BYOB.
