OK all you hungry bears, time to start filling that belly for the
upcoming winter hibernation season. You know, the couch potato months
waiting for the next summer to arrive.
This time we will visit a good Chinese buffet called Fortune Buffet
in Livonia. It is on Middlebelt Rd. at 5 Mile Rd. Just one mile north of
the Middlebelt exit on I-96. It is on the Southwest corner in a L shaped
strip-mall.
They also serve beer, wine and liquor.

A pretty amazing array of dishes, from the expected Chinese-American
chicken, beef and barbecued ribs to much more esoteric items aimed at an
Asian audience, makes this one of the most interesting Chinese buffets
around. A sushi chef prepares the rice-wrapped tidbits to order at a
small sushi bar, and there is also a chef-staffed Mongolian barbecue
where guests may put together their own combinations. Noodle soups and
the Vietnamese pho are also prepared to order. The buffet includes
nearly 175 different choices, from crispy squid and fresh oysters and
clams to steamed flounder, crab with ginger and scallions and seaweed
salad, in addition to an array of fresh fruit and American style salad
makings. At $10.95 for dinner, it's a steal, and the setting is
attractively done up in light oak and pastel colors.

Come on out and join us for Wall to Wall Fur at Diamond Jim’s.
If you're not familiar, the bears of S.E. Michigan,
and all around the area are descending on our home bar, Diamond Jim’s
Saloon, for a weekend for a great time and “lots of fur!!!” Invitations
have gone out to bears as far away as West Virginia and Iowa, to
Minnesota to Kentucky and all parts in between to converge on Diamond
Jim’s Saloon this weekend and it's going to be a blast. We’re going to
show all the out-of-town guests just how the Bears have fun with fur in
the Motor City!
We will be hosting both Friday and Saturday nights.
This is a big weekend event at Diamond Jim’s, probably the biggest
event we have there. We will have lots of food, munches, Jello shots,
50/50 drawings and more.
Saturday we will be having a contest to crown
our new Mr. Motor City Bear. This is one event not to miss! It is a
lot of fun.
Generally speaking, Diamond Jim's Saloon is located on Warren
Ave., one short block east of Evergreen in Detroit. It's right by the
Comerica Bank, and you can use their parking lot.

St. John Lutheran School Fish Fry 6:30pm (EC - Chuck B) 16339 Fourteen Mile Road
Fraser, MI 48026 (Map)

St. John Lutheran School puts on a fish fry during
Lent. The money raised is used for a trip for the kids. This year the
kids will be going to Washington DC. The students will be the wait staff
with their dads in the kitchen working the deep fryers. The recipe used
for their beer battered fish has been the best kept secret. The Church
puts this fish fry on every other week during Lent.
Menu:
Deep Fried Fish or oven baked, french fries, baked red skins
potatoes, cole slaw, dessert, coffee, fruit punch.
Cost:
$11.00 for all you can eat, served family style.
Time:
6:30pm - who ever is there will be seated together, any later comers
will be seated as tables become available. When talking with our
waiter on the 15th, they serve between 700 and 800 people a
night. And they have never run out of fish.
Dennis, Brad, Tyler, Tim and I went on the 15th and the fish was the
best you will ever have. So, I thought I would post here to see if we
can get anyone to bite! If you have any questions, just shoot me an
email and I will be glad to answer them for you.
